Bringing AI-Highlights to Padel Courts

Last week, the SportAI team swapped laptops for padel rackets and headed to Bærum Padel outside Oslo. The club has recently rolled out the newest AI-highlights feature on their MATCHi TV equipped courts, powered by SportAI technology, so we decided to see it in action.

A single camera tracked every move on court: the shots, the runs, the best exchanges at the net. There was no need to press record or worry about best phone camera angles. Everything was captured automatically.

How it works

When you book a MATCHi TV equipped padel court and opt in for AI-highlights, the system records your match and, after the game, instantly creates a personal highlight reel.

But this isn’t just one long, unedited video. The AI picks out the big moments:

• Match summary: your best rallies and most exciting points
• Footwork: how far and fast you moved around the court
• Positioning maps: where you spent the most time
• Player styles: your play style, paired with a nickname based on your performance
• Heat maps: showing exactly where the most intense action happened
  
  
  

The Player Experience

In our test match, we saw it all come together. Long rallies were neatly cut and labeled (best rally of “16 hits”, yes, we were proud). The most intense points were clipped so we could relive the pressure moments. The heat map showed where we dominated and where we… well, needed improvement.

The best part? Everything was ready within minutes after the match. We could share it with friends, compare stats, or just watch and laugh at the shots we thought were brilliant, but maybe weren’t.

What to Expect from AI-Highlights feature

AI-highlights turn a match into more than just the game at the moment. You walk off court with a complete recap: from the funniest game bloopers, to your best shots and rallies that left you gasping for air. It’s as close as you get to having your own sports broadcast, without lifting a finger.

Bærum Padel is one of the first padel clubs in Norway to bring AI-highlights to their courts. After testing it ourselves, we can say it transforms not just how you play, but how you remember your game, turning every match into a personal broadcast-worthy story, ready to be relived and shared among friends and fellow padel enthusiasts.
